About 70 Palestinians detained across the West Bank since Friday, PPS says
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society said most of those held were former prisoners, and that hundreds more had been interrogated in the field during raids.
Israeli forces detained about 70 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank between Friday and early Saturday, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society, as the army launched its operation in Hebron. Some have since been released.
The society said most of those detained were former prisoners, some freed in prisoner exchange deals, and that hundreds of other people were questioned in the field. Detentions were recorded in Qalqilya, Jenin, Nablus, Jericho, Salfit, Tubas, Bethlehem, Tulkarem and Jerusalem, and the home of released prisoner Nael Barghouti in Kobar was raided.
People released told the society they had been beaten, bound and blindfolded and warned against political activity. The group says more than 26,000 arrests have been recorded in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza. There was no Israeli comment on the arrests.
