Apple to replace iPhone Duo units with cracked inner screens
Buyers of Apple's first foldable reported cracks and dead pixels near the hinge within days; the company has not explained the fault.
Apple said on Monday night that it would replace iPhone Duo handsets whose inner screens have cracked or developed display faults, The National reported. The company said the problem affects a small number of units but did not explain the cause.
Photos shared online show damage concentrated around the hinge, including vertical cracks, bright lines and dead pixels, with some buyers saying faults appeared within hours.
“We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units,”
Apple, statement to The National
The Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, began shipping last week after initial orders sold out. Durability is a key test as Apple enters a market led by Samsung and Google.
