Oversight Board faults Meta over removal of protest and election accounts
The board said 'No Kings' activist accounts and Brazilian election pages were taken down by error and should have been protected by Meta's cross-check system.

Meta's Oversight Board said moderation failures led to the removal of accounts linked to the US "No Kings" protest movement and to Brazil's election, and that the activist accounts should have been covered by Meta's cross-check programme, The National reported.
The removals came the weekend before nationwide No Kings protests. Meta blamed technical glitches; spokesman Andy Stone said the automated action was an error and apologised. Brazil's top electoral court doubled a daily fine against the company over how it displays political content.
“It remains unclear why Meta's election integrity efforts did not lead to a much quicker resolution,”

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy criticised the removals and suggested Big Tech would face more scrutiny if Democrats win control of Congress.
