Netherlands reverses course and pulls out of Eurovision 2027 over Israel
Dutch public broadcaster NPO said the 'sensitivities' around Israel's participation had not gone away, a month after announcing a careful return.
The Netherlands will not take part in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, public broadcaster NPO announced on Tuesday, reversing a decision made last month to return to the competition.
NPO said sensitivities over Israel's participation continued to cause public debate and division. The decision followed consultation with its board of broadcasters, the Times of Israel reported.
“We must conclude that it is currently too early to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.”
Jet de Ranitz, executive chairman, NPO
NPO chairman Jet de Ranitz acknowledged that many Dutch fans would be disappointed and said the contest would still be shown on Dutch public channels.
